Welcome to Kirkside Cottage: A Cosy, Single-Storey Retreat in the Heart of Upper Largo
Located in the historic village of Upper Largo, Kirkside Cottage offers a peaceful and accessible holiday experience in the beautiful East Neuk of Fife. Just 10 miles from the famous town of St Andrews, known for its golf courses and university, this modern, single-storey bungalow is perfect for guests seeking comfort and convenience—all on one level, with no internal steps.
Kirkside Cottage has been thoughtfully designed for easy living. The property features a spacious wet room with a no-step shower. The cottage is finished in a contemporary style, equipped with everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay.
Nestled beside the historic Parish Church, the cottage offers views of Largo Law, a prominent hill in the area. If you're up for a challenge, bring your walking boots and take a hike to the top for breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.
Discover local history as you wander through Upper Largo—close by is the ruin of Largo House, once home to Sir Andrew Wood, a renowned figure who defended the area from English raiders during the reign of James IV. Walk past the school and cemetery to see if you can trace the canal Sir Andrew built to sail to church on Sundays.
The popular Upper Largo Hotel, just a 2-minute walk from the cottage, offers excellent meals for lunch and dinner, seven days a week. If you’re just in the mood for a drink, the hotel’s cozy bar provides the perfect spot to unwind.
For essentials and further dining options, visit Lower Largo and Lundin Links (1 mile away) where you will find The Railway Inn, Crusoe Hotel and The Aurrie Cafe as well as a number of small shops, the nearby town of Leven (3 miles away) offers supermarkets and additional amenities. You’re also within easy reach of some of Fife’s finest eateries, including the Michelin-starred Peat Inn, and the award-winning Cromars fish and chips in St Andrews. The area is also blessed with a number of excellent farm shops such as Blacketyside and artisan food producers such as Barnets Bakers and The St Andrews Farmhouse Cheese Company.
Leven has recently been reconnected to the national rail network meaning that the city of Edinburgh is now a short ride away on the excellent train service, ditch the car and take the train into the heart of this historic city, take in the sights, indulge in some shopping or just sit in one of the excellent pubs and watch the world go by.
We look forward to welcoming you to Kirkside Cottage, where you can enjoy a comfortable, relaxing stay with easy access to both local history and the stunning natural beauty of Fife. Whether you’re here for the walks, the views, or just a quiet getaway, we’re sure you’ll have a wonderful time.
